Clear Civic Journal

Write for us

Clear Civic Journal welcomes thoughtful proposals that help general readers understand the workings of civic life. We look for clear explanations, sound boundaries, and a fresh subject rather than a predetermined political conclusion.

What we welcome

We consider original pitches about institutions, representation, participation, decision-making, and civic culture. A useful contribution might explain a process, compare distinct civic roles, unpack a term, or examine a custom of public life. Avoid advice that depends on a particular jurisdiction unless the limits can be explained plainly.

A good pitch

Send a short description of the question your piece will answer, its central explanation, why it matters to a general reader, and the main points or examples you expect to use. Tell us whether the proposal has been published or offered elsewhere. Clear scope and careful distinctions are more useful than grand claims.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include your proposed title and a brief outline in the message. A proposal is not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before sending a full draft.
